Lady Hornets Fall 11-2 To Canton On Senior Night.

2023 Team Headlines
The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team fell 11-2 to Canton during their Senior Night on Thursday, May 11.
Canton opened the game with three runs in the opening inning then added 4 more, jumping out to a 7-1 lead following the 2nd inning.
Wellsboro's run in the bottom of the 1st came as seniors Maddi Bordas, Jordyn Abernathy, and Rylie Boyce hit three back-to-back-to-back singles. Bordas scored by stealing home during Boyce's at bat.
The Lady Warriors increased their lead two runs in both the 6th and 7th innings. Wellsboro's final run came in the bottom of the 7th by junior Abby Owlett.
Abernathy led the Lady Hornets, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Bordas (1-for-4), Boyce (1-for-3), Owlett (1-for-3), and junior Caralyn Warner (1-for-3) added single hits. Boyce threw a complete game, striking out 8.
The loss drops Wellsboro to 2-13 (2-11 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action at Towanda later this afternoon.
