Hornet softball shuts out Canton, 2-0.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity softball team scored two runs in the fourth inning to beat Canton 2-0 on Satuday, April 19 in Wellsboro.

Sophomores Sarah Ingerick and Alexa Singer scored the runs and Singer had a double in the game, while Junior Paige Carr had a hit and an RBI. Junior Jordan Butters, Ingerick and Senior Maggie Smith added hits in the game.

Singer went five innings on the mound for record her sixth win of the season. Singer gave up two hits and a walk, but struck out eight batters on 77 pitches. Senior Brooke Kohler came on in relief and pitched the final two innings, striking out four batters on 26 pitches and holding Canton hitless to earn the save.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 6-1 (1-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 22 as they host Northeast Bradford.
