Waverly softball edged by Edison.

The odd innings were key for the Waverly Wolverines on Thursday, but they came up just short in an 8-7 loss to Edison.

Waverly scored two in the first, two in the third and two in the fifth. They then scored in the seventh, but came up one run short in the IAC matchup.

Edison scored eight runs between the third and fifth innings, including four in the third inning.

Shailei Kraft had two hits, with a double, an RBI and four runs scored for Waverly and Wendi Hammond had two hits and scored three runs.

Zoe Mennig had a hit and two RBI and Kennedy Wheeler had a hit.

Laura Tryon had three hits and Jodie Burdick had two hits, with a double, for Edison.

Hammond and Kraft combined to strike out six for Waverly.

Wellsboro 2, Wyalusing 1, 9 innings

Hailey Neal scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning, after reaching on an error and scoring on an error.

Cathryn Brought and Alyssa Yungwirth combined on a three-hitter for the Green Hornets. Brought allowed two hits in four innings and Yungwirth allowed one hit in five innings. The two combined to strike out five.

Kyleigh Ward threw a four-hitter for Wyalusing and she had a home run at the plate for the Rams.

Sydney Tremper had two hits for Wellsboro and Ryann Adams and Yungwirth had hits. Brought scored a run.

Trinity Kipp and Miranda Herbert had hits for Wyalusing.

NEB 12, Canton 2, 5 innings

McKenna Wheaton had a 4-for-4 day with a home run and five RBI, scoring two runs, in the Panthers' win.

Morgan Post had three hits, with two doubles, and scored three runs, with two RBI and Jaycee Brown had three hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Annie Williams had two hits and scored two runs and Megan Brown scored two runs.

Katie Boardman had a hit and scored a run, Taya Howell and McKenzie Haight had RBI and Jordan Shumway scored a run.

Gabby Slater allowed three hits for the Panthers, striking out 10.

Hannah Gilliland and Evelyn Katona each had doubles and RBI for Canton and Brooke Ward had a hit and scored two runs. Katona struck out two on the mound.

Notre Dame 24, Lansing 4

The Crusaders scored at least five runs in each of the first four innings of the win.

Courteney Crater had two hits, with a home run and a double, three RBI and four runs scored for the Crusaders.

Maura Glovins had four hits, with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored and Mackenzie Mahajan had three hits, with a double, an RBI and four runs scored.

Mackenzie Maloney had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored for Notre Dame and Peyton Maloney had a hit and scored a run for the Crusaders.

Izzy Milazzo had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored for Notre Dame and Taylor VanDine had a hit.

Ally Wichtowski had a hit, an RBI and three runs scored and Jordyn Fargo had a hit, two RBI and three runs scored.

Tiyah Moffe had a hit and two RBI and Hannah Mahon had two hits and a season-high five RBI. Ana Milazzo had her first varsity double and scored a run.

Moffe struck out five on the mound.

Sullivan County 13, Benton 3, 5 innings

Tiffany Rupert had a 4-for-4 day with a double, an RBI and two runs scored and Madison Burke was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.

Kassandra Houseknecht had a hit and scored a run and Quincy Fry had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Savannah Baldwin had three hits, with a double, an RBI and two runs scored and Bethany Weinhardt had three hits, with a double and a triple, two RBI and two runs scored.

Jessica King had two hits, with a double, and scored two runs and Leona Hatch had a hit and an RBI.

Alexis Randall had two hits, with a double and an RBI.

Madison Burke struck out two on the mound.
