Wyalusing tops Canton.

Wyalusing earned a 15-5 win over Canton to start the NTL season Saturday.

The Rams pounded out 21 hits, led by Melody Kneller (4-for-4) with two doubles, a home run, five runs scored and 3-RBI.

Daphne Fassett was 4-for-5 with 3-RBI, Madelyn Valoroso was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, freshman Hailey Jayne was 2-for-4 with three runs and Emily Champluvier was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Kristie Epler had a hit with two runs, Sarah Bird knocked a double, Autumn Dietz and Imogen Herbert each had a hit, run scored and an RBI, Catherine Brown added a double with an RBI, Shelby Kipp added a hit, Leigh Ann Kipp knocked in a run and Hailey Newhart scored a run.

Kneller started and earns the win, going one inning to strikeout one and allow one hit. Haley McGroarty went the final six innings, striking out two while allowing seven hits, three walks and five earned runs.

Canton had a good day at the plate as well.

Hannah Gilliland (2-for-3) and Emily Ferguson (2-for-2) each had multi-hit games. Gilliland's both were doubles and she scored once while Ferguson scored twice.

Zoey Morse, Iroquois Rools and Vanessa Wesneski each had a double while Jill Shay had a hit.

Morse knocked in two runs while Wesneski had an RBI herself while also scoring twice.

Shay took the loss, going the distance to allow 21 hits, four walks and 15 runs, 11 of them earned. She struck out nine.

Blue Ridge 9, Sayre 0

SAYRE — Camryn Brown, Alia Post and Jillian Shay all had hits for the Redskins in their non-league loss Saturday.

Alyssa Murrelle scored the loss for the Redskins. She struck out two while allowing 14 hits and six walks.
