Towanda falls to Tunkhannock, 11-0

Towanda falls to Tunkhannock, 11-0WYSOX — Tunkhannock defeated Towanda 11-0 in five innings in local softball action on Friday.

Emily Dunn started the game for Towanda and threw two innings, striking out one and allowing eight runs. Larisa Terry relieved her and pitched the final three innings. She struck out three and allowed three runs.

Hannah Chandler finished with Towanda's lone hit as Hope Jones and Kendra Schultz combined on a three-hitter for Tunkhannock.

Sayre 9, Blue Ridge 4

Kate Cron had three runs, a triple, a home run and five RBI to lead Sayre to their 9-4 win over Blue Ridge in local softball action on Friday.

For Sayre, Kirsten Covey finished with two runs, Camryn Brown added two runs, two doubles and one RBI, Dominique Woodruff finished with two hits and two RBI's, Jillian Shay added one run and one hit and Emily Brion also had one run and one hit.

Kaitlynn McCarter went the distance for Sayre, striking out four and allowing four runs on eight hits.

Baseball

Sayre 8, Blue Ridge 2

Nate Sweet had two runs and two hits on offense and threw a complete game, striking out three and allowing two runs on five hits.

For Sayre, Sam Wheeler finished with one hit, Jordan Rockwell added two runs, two hits and an RBI, Connor Hanafin added one hit and two RBI's, Camden Wheeler chipped in a run, Quinn Hanafin and John Esposito each had one run, two hits and one RBI, James Esposito finished with two RBI's and Chris Ray had one run, one hit and one RBI.

Waverly 11, Newfield 4

Dylan Cooney came off of the bench and had two runs, a single, a triple and three RBI's to lead Waverly to their 11-4 win over Newfield on Friday.

Brendyn Stillman finished with one run, three hits, three RBI's and two stolen bases for Waverly, Zach VanHouten had a double and stolen base, Nate Bennett added two runs, one hit and two stolen bases, Hunter Bodine contributed two runs and two stolen bases, Eithan McEnulty finished with one run, one hit, an RBI and a stolen base, Jason Morales had two runs and an RBI, and Paul Girolamo had one run and one RBI.

Devon Garrison threw the first six innings for Waverly, striking out seven batters and allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits. Hunter Bodine relieved him for a third of an inning and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and Brendyn Stillman finished the last two thirds of an inning, striking out two and allowing no runs.
