CV tops Bucktail.

Cowanesque Valley got their season underway with a big 20-3 win over Bucktail in three innings in non-league baseball action Tuesday.

Seth Huyler and Owen Fitzwater both led the Indians as they each had a double with two runs. Fitzwater had 3-RBI and Huyler knocked in two runs.

Jace Bieser, Christian Kemp, Caleb Fitzwater, Chris Lingle and Corey Wells also had hits.

Wells and Bieser knocked in four runs each, Kemp had 2-RBI while Kurtis Easton, Lingle and Wynn Doan also knocked in runs.

Bieser, Caleb Fitzwater and Lingle each scored three times while Kemp, Easton and Wells crossed home twice. Doan also scored a run.

Huyler started and earned the win, going 1 1/3-innings to allow one walk. Caleb Fitzwater came on in relief, going 1/3-innings to allow three walks and one hit with three earned runs.

Lingle finished out with one walk and four strikeouts.

Softball

Worthington 11, NEB 1

The Lady Panthers fell in their final road trip game on Sunday. They finished 0-3 on the weekend.

McKenna Wheaton went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead NEB while Gabby Slater was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Megan Brown, Katie Boardman, Kenzie Haight, Jaycee Brown and Lindsay Moore also had hits.

Slater started and earns the loss, going four innings to strike out three while allowing three walks, eight hits and five earned runs.

Annie Williams finished out, striking out one with three hits and three earned runs.
