NP-Liberty tops Wellsboro.

North Penn-Liberty got a big go ahead hit from Brooke Harvey in the fourth inning as they defeated Wellsboro 5-3 in NTL Large School softball action Saturday.

It is the first time in eight years that the Mountaineers have defeated their Tioga County rivals.

Carmen Bates went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead NP-Liberty, while Britta Berguson was also 2-for-3.

Kristina Buchanan was 2-for-4, while Lauren Smith and Savannah Doney both had hits. Doney had two RBIs as well.

Doney got the win, striking out three while allowing seven hits and no walks.

Alexa Singer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Hornets, while Sarah Ingerick also went 2-for-3 with a double.

Jenny Young, Darci Warriner and Brianne Keane also had hit.

Alyssa Yungwirth scored the loss.
