Hawley pitches Knights past Athens.

TOWANDA — Casey Hawley hurled a shutout as Towanda edged Athens 2-0 in NTL softball action on Wednesday.

Hawley had a three-hitter, striking out seven and walking just two.

Jayde Parsons had a double in the game and Madi Doss and Justine Vargason scored Towanda's runs. Cortney Ritts had a hit and an RBI and Doss and Larisa Terry added hits.

Emma Adams, Hayleigh Macik and Reagan Lynch had hits for Athens.

Adams struck out seven and allowed four hits and two unearned runs, walking none.

Wyalusing 5, Liberty 4

Freshman Melody Kneller hit a walk-off double with the bases loaded in the seventh to lift the Rams to the win on Wednesday.

"The kids finally came through," Wyalusing coach Jack Loomis said. "My two seniors came up big in the seventh inning, (Kate) Epler started the inning with a single, (Sarah) Bird moved her on a bunt and (Erin) Canfield beat it out to get on base. Ward bunted on and Kneller came through with a double. It's what our program needed. We have struggled hitting, having a walk-off double was a thrill for the team."

Kneller had two hits, a run and two RBI and Trinity Kipp was 3-for-3 in the game.

Kate Epler had two hits and scored a run and Kristie Epler had two hits.

Kyleigh Ward had two hits, a run scored and an RBI and Canfield scored two runs and had an RBI, while Bird had a hit.

Ward struck out two and allowed three hits on the mound.

Brooke Harvey had a solo home run for Liberty and Kristina Buchanan had two hits, with a double and scored a run and Britta Berguson scored two runs.

Savana Doney pitched for Liberty.

Wyalusing hosts Towanda on Friday and they will dedicate their field in honor of Charlotte Anderson before the game, which begins at 4:30 p.m.

NEB 14, CV 4

The Panthers had 14 hits in the win and scored six runs in the third to break the game open.

Annie Williams was 4-for-4 with a double, four RBI and three runs scored and Danielle Moore was 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, with a double.

McKenna Wheaton had a hit and two RBI and Megan Brown had two hits, with a double, an RBI and four runs scored.

Taya Howell had two hits, with a double, an RBI and two runs scored and Dana Koontz had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Williams struck out eight on the mound.

Maddy Hatch had a hit and two RBI and Kayla Schauer had two hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored.Madi Lee had a double and an RBI and Brynn Williams had a hit and scored a run, while Karmen Short had a hit.

Jenna Romaneo had a hit and scored a run for CV and Breanna Whitesell scored a run.

Hatch struck out two in the game.

Edison 5, Notre Dame 1

Former state player of the year McKenzie Slaven threw a two-hitter, striking out 10 for Edison in the win.

Courteney Crater and Maura Glovins had the Crusaders hits in the game.

Laura Tryon had a three-run home run for Edison and Emily Lear had two hits in the game.

Alivia Clark and Izzy Milazzo pitched for Notre Dame softball in the game.

Wellsboro 10, Troy 0

The Green Hornets scored seven runs in the fifth to break open the game.

Alexa Singer had a two-hitter, striking out seven in the game.

Darci Warriner had three hits, with two doubles and three RBI and Sarah Ingerick had two hits, with a home run and three RBI.

Alyssa Yungwirth had two hits and Singer, Emma Poirier, Brianne Keane, Kailee Clymer, Sydney Tremper and Jenny Young all had hits for Wellsboro.

Vanessa Watson and Erika Johnston had hits for Troy.

Watson and Kerrigan Hoffmann pitched for Troy.

Wellsboro hosts Liberty on Friday.

Tioga 21, Newfield 0, 4 innings

Sam Wood matched the career record for no-hitters, striking out 10 in her 10th career no-hitter on Wednesday.

Wood ties Sarah Wayson's (2007-2011) career mark in the victory.

Katelyn Stubbs had two hits, with a triple, five runs scored and six stolen bases and Morgan Babcock scored two runs.

Wood had two hits and scored two runs and Sarah Hollenbeck had two hits and scored a run.

Sara Strong had two hits, with a double, and a run scored and Madelyn Dydnski had two hits and scored two runs.

Kurstan Martin had two hits, with a double and a run scored, Megan Godfrey scored three runs and Taylor Ayres had a hit and scored three runs.

Waverly 9, Newark Valley 1

Wendi Hammond threw a four-hitter, striking out 10 in the win.

Kalie Herriman had three hits, with a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Shailei Kraft had two hits, an RBI and a run scored, while Karleigh VanNess had two hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Hammond had a hit and a run scored and Kendra Ellers had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored and Zoe Mennig had an RBI.Madison Klossner had a hit and a run scored, Anna Smith had a hit, two RBI and a run scored and Lyndsey Moore had a hit.

Canton 9, Sayre 4

The Warriors scored five runs in the second in the win.

Brooke Ward had two hits, with two RBI and two runs scored and Sidney Wheeler had three hits, with a triple, an RBI and a run scored.

Evelyn Katona had a double and two RBI and Lauryn Watkins had an RBI and a run scored.

Alexa Roy had two hits and scored a run and Lacey Castle had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored.

Joslyn Spencer had a hit and Hailey Wesneski had two RBI, while Caitlin Pepper scored a run.

Katona allowed three hits and struck out three on the mound.

Paige Wampole had two hits for Sayre and Alia Post had two hits and an RBI.

Megan Abrams had a double and an RBI and Kate Cron, Dominique Woodruff, Reaghan Zurn, Kaitlynn McCarter and Rory Tigue had hits for Sayre.

McCarter struck out three on the mound.
