Canton softball rolls past MontgomeryCANTON -- The Warriors hit three home runs on their way to an 11-1 win over Montgomery in the first round of the District 4, Class A softball playoffs.

Canton led 1-0 after one inning, then exploded for three runs in the second, two in the fourth and five in the fifth in the five-inning win.

Alexa Roy, Lauryn Watkins and Kelsey Griffin all hit home runs for the Warriors in the win.

Roy had a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Watkins had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored, while Griffin had a hit, three RBI and a run scored.

Brooke Ward had three hits, with an RBI and three runs scored and Evelyn Katona had two hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Lacey Castle and Sidney Wheeler each had a hit and scored a run in the game and Vanessa Wesneski had a hit and an RBI, while Caitlin Pepper had an RBI.

Katona threw a four-hitter, striking out two in the game.

Gabrielle Shreck had two hits for Montgomery and Reilly Gearhart and Hannah Bryson had doubles.

Emily Snyder and Bryson pitched, striking out two.

Canton advances to the quarterfinals where they will be play at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Bloomsburg.
