Tioga holds off Notre Dame in 10-9 win.

Tioga used a 6-run third inning to beat Notre Dame 10-9 in IAC softball action Friday.

The Tigers had a 7-0 lead after three but the Crusaders weren't done.

Down 10-2 in the bottom of the sixth Notre Dame scored five runs to cut it to 10-7. They added two more in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't get the tying run across.

"Such a great team effort tonight," said Tioga coach Heather Klossner. "From the top to the bottom of the order and all around the field it took the whole team to win tonight. Sam (Wood) and Mariah (Culver) combined to throw a great game and our hitting was really on tonight. Mariah Culver and Rachael Graham's home runs were key and Dani Barto had a great night at the plate going 3-5. We got out to a quick lead and were able to hold on despite numerous errors. A great win for us but there is always room for improvement."

Culver was 3-for-4 with the home run, two runs and 2-RBI while Barto's 3-for-5 day included two runs, a triple and an RBI.

Wood was 3-for-4 with two runs while Sarah Hollenbeck was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Graham finished with 3-RBI and run scored from the home run, Taylor Ayres was 2-for-4 while Katelyn Stubbs had a double with a run scored.

Britt Vergason also scored.

In the circle Wood started and earns the win, going five innings to strike out two while allowing two walks, 10 hits and seven runs, two of them earned.

Culver got the save, going the final two innings to strike out four while allowing two hits and two unearned runs.

Mackenzie Maloney led the Crusaders, going 4-for-5 with a double, run scored and an RBI while Makenzie Mahajan (2-for-4), Brooke Harvey (2-for-4), and Courtney Crater (2-for-4) also had multiple hits in the game.

Mahajan added a double, 3-RBI and crossed home, Harvey had a double with an RBI while Crater scored twice.

Alivia Clark had a double with 2-RBI and a run scored while Isabel Milazzo also had a hit.

Ally Wichtowski scored twice while Maura Glovins and Hannah Mahon also crossed home. Milazzo added an RBI.

Clark went the distance in the loss, striking out four while allowing 12 hits, two walks and 10 runs, three of them earned.

Northeast Bradford 10, Athens 9

In a back and forth game the Panthers scored in the bottom of the seventh to earn the NTL softball win Friday.

Athens led early thanks to a five run second inning but eight runs by NEB in the fifth put them up 9-6.

The Wildcats retook the lead in the top of the seventh with three runs.

Then in the bottom half of the inning Maddy Johnson led off with a double. She would be hit home by McKenna Wheaton three batters later for the win.

Johnson (2-for-5), Wheaton (2-for-5) and Danielle Moore (2-for-3) all had multiple hits in the game for the Panthers.

Johnson had two runs and two steals, Wheaton had two runs with an RBI while Moore had 3-RBI with a run scored.

Shelby Park, Julia Williams, Annie Williams, Katie Boardman, Gabby Slater, Hannah Dum and Megan Brown also had hits.

Park, Annie Williams, Boardman, Slater and Dum all scored while Slater knocked in two runs. Dum, Boardman and Julia Williams also drove in runs.

Slater went the distance in the win for NEB, striking out five while allowing two walks.

For Athens Jensen Dunkling went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and 2-RBI while Aubrey Allen was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Kaitlyn Testen was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored, Rica Dimon was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored while Gabby Vosburg was 2-for-4 with 2-RBI.

Lexi Morley also had a hit for the Wildcats.

Morley, Mackenzie Warner, Hannah Reid and Reagan Lynch all scored runs while Morley had an RBI.

Allen started and went the first six innings while Dunkling pitched the seventh and scores the loss. They struck out one while allowing five walks between them.

NEB hosts their tournament today.

Troy 4, Mifflinburg 2

Troy scored three runs in the top of the seventh to get the come from behind win in the first round of the Williamsport Tournament Friday.

Down 2-1 Vanessa Watson led off with a single. After an out was made Jerilyn Ross reached base on a bunt single. Then with two outs Kelsey Bristol brought them home with a 2-run single.

After she stole a base Faith Ceely knocked her in to make it 4-2.

Ross started and went the first five innings but it was Hoffman, who came on for the final two, that got the win.

Troy will face Williamsport today at 10 a.m.

Wyalusing 10, Williamson 7

The Rams came away with an NTL softball win Friday.

Ally DeVoir and Erin Canfield had three hits each to lead Wyalusing. DeVoir had a double with three runs while Canfield had two triples with a run scored.

Kate Epler had two hits, including a double, with two runs while Kasey DeVoir had two hits as well, including a triple, with two runs.

Paighton Martin had a double with a run scored while Kristie Epler had a hit and Kyleigh Ward scored a run.

Ward earned the win with five strikeouts.

Sarah Bates led Williamson with three hits, including a double, and two runs. Emma Durst, Makayla Butz and Sam Herrington had two hits each with Butz and Herrington both getting a double. Durst scored twice with Herrington scoring once.

Kendra Colegrove and Emily Hackett both had doubles with Colegrove scoring a run.

Bates started and had two strikeouts while Durst finished up with eight strikeouts.

North Penn-Mansfield 17, Sayre 7

In a game that saw 25 hits it was the Mountaineers coming away with the NTL softball win.

Mariah Berguson went 2-for-3 with a home run, 3-RBI and four runs scored while Lauren Smith was 3-for-5 with two runs and 3-RBI.

Abbey Heatley (3-for-4) and Emily Strange (2-for-4) also had multiple hits in the game. Heatley added two runs and an RBI while Strange scored four times with 3-RBI with a double.

Britta Berguson had a triple with 2-RBI and two runs while Becky Rossell, Krissy Buchanan and Emma Koppenhaven also had hits.

Rossell had 3-RBI while Carmen Bates, Buchanan and Koppenhaven also scored.

Mariah Berguson went the distance in the win, striking out four while allowing 11 hits, three walks and seven earned runs.

Kaitlyn Cron led the Redskins, going 3-for-4 with three runs while Kaitlyn Garrity (2-for-3) and Dominique Woodruff (2-for-4) also had multiple hits in the game.

Garrity added an RBI while Woodruff had a double with 2-RBI.

Paige Wampole added a triple with 2-RBI while Sydney Post, Kaitlyn McCarter and Hannah Hitchcock also had hits.

Jaycee Henry scored twice while Hitchcock and Heather Croft also scored. McCarter and Hitchcock knocked in a run each as well.

McCarter went the distance for Sayre, striking out three while allowing 14 hits, four walks and 17 runs with nine earned.

Wellsboro 7, Cowanesque Valley 4

A three run top of the seventh for the Hornets proved to be the difference in their NTL softball win Friday.

Wellsboro scored four runs in the top of the first but CV added four more in the bottom of the third to tie it up.

Paige Carr led the Hornets, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Jordan Butters was 2-for-4 with a double and 2-RBI while Darci Warriner had a double, run scored and an RBI.

Sarah Ingerick and Baylea Lehman also had hits.

Alexa Singer, Ingerick, Jenny Young, Sydney TremperKailee Clymer and Alyssa Yungwirth all scored.

Singer earned the win, going the distance with five strikeouts, nine hits, two walks and four runs, two of them earned.

Waverly 16, SVE 1, 6 innings

Sam Mennig had a home run and a double as the Wolverines picked up the IAC softball win Friday.

Mennig was 3-for-4 with 3-RBI and two runs scored while also getting the win with seven strikeouts. She allowed two hits, one walk and one unearned run.

Kiana Manuel was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and 3-RBI while Shailei Kraft was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and 3-RBI.

Emily Goodwin was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and 2-RBI with Kalie Herriman going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Zoe Mennig and Taylor Nicholas also had hits.

Michaela Gallagher scored twice while Mennig and Nicholas also crossed home. Mennig added an RBI.
