Liberty tops Canton.

North Penn-Liberty got a big win Monday as they make their late season playoff push.

The Mountaineers beat Canton 10-3 to bring their record to 8-8 on the season in NTL softball action.

To make districts they will need to finish at least .500.

The Warriors led 2-1 after the first inning but back to back 3-run innings by Liberty gave them the win.

Abby Heatley had a home run with 3-RBI and two runs for the Mountaineers while Lauren Smith (2-for-4) and Emily Strange (2-for-4) also had multiple hits on the day. Smith added an RBI with a run scored while Strange scored twice with an RBI.

Mariah Berguson and Mackenzie Payne also had hits.

Mariah Berguson scored twice while Britta Berguson, Payne and Becky Rossell each crossed home as well.

Jillian Berguson knocked in two runs with Mariah Berguson also getting an RBI.

Mariah Berguson scored the win, striking out two while allowing four walks, five hits and three runs, two of them earned.

For Canton Kelsey Griffin, Maggy Machmer, Kayla Ward, Evelyn Katona and Lauryn Watkins had hits.

Machmer scored twice while Ward crossed home once.

Watkins knocked in two runners with Katona also getting an RBI.

Machmer started and earns the loss, going 4 2/3-innings with four strikeouts, six hits, one walk and nine runs, only one of which was earned.

Griffin went the next 1 1/3-innings with one strikeout, one hit and one unearned run.

Ward pitched the final inning.

Liberty is at St. John Neumann Wednesday.

Waverly 5, Whitney Point 0

The Wolverines saw Sam Mennig strike out 13 as they picked up an IAC cross-over win in softball action Monday.

Mennig allowed just two hits with no walks on the day.

At the plate Shailei Kraft was a home run short of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with a double, triple, 2-RBI and a run scored.

Karleigh VanNess was 2-for-3 with three runs while Zoe Mennig and Kiana Manuel also had hits with an RBI.

Sam Mennig had a hit and a run scored as well.

Jersey Shore 4, Wellsboro 2

Three runs in the first inning by Jersey Shore proved to be the difference in non-league softball action Monday.

Paige Carr was 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Hornets while Jordan Butters went 2-for-3.

Alyssa Yungwirth had a first inning solo home run while Sarah Ingerick added a double and Baylea Lehman also had a hit.

Alexa Singer scored the loss, striking out two with three walks.

Becca Copputo was 2-for-4 to lead Jersey Shore.

Wellsboro will host Williamson Wednesday.

Tioga 11, Marathon 0

Tiger freshman Sara Strong had two home runs in the big seventh inning as the Tigers earned an IAC cross-over softball win Monday.

She was 2-for-2 with two runs and 3-RBI while Sam Wood went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Wood also got the win, striking out 11 with no walks and two hits.

Mariah Culver had a double with 3-RBI and a run scored with Katelyn Stubbs also getting a double with a run scored and an RBI.

Dani Barto, Britt Vergason, Sarah Hollenbeck, Rachael Graham and Paige Hendershot also had hits.

Hendershot had two runs with 2-RBI, Hollenbeck scored a run, Vergason had an RBI while Barto scored twice.

Tioga will play Moravia for the IAC Small School title Thursday, at 3 p.m. at Cornell University.
