Liberty softball tops Athens.

The Liberty softball team picked up a big win on Friday, defeating Athens 14-4 in NTL softball action.

It was the fourth, and biggest, win of the year for Liberty who won just one game last year.

Britta Berguson had a double and scored three runs for Liberty.

Lauren Smith had a hit and scored two runs for Liberty and Mariah Berguson had two hits and scored two runs.

Mackenzie Payne had a hit and scored two runs and Emma Koppenhaven had two hits, with a double, and three runs scored.

Kristina Buchanan had two hits, with a double, and two runs scored for Liberty.

Buchanan struck out three and allowed six hits to get the win for Liberty.

Athens got two hits, and a run scored, from Jensen Dunkling and Gabby Vosburgh had a hit.

Lexi Morley and Sarah Munn each had hits and Jessie Hoose had a hit and scored a run, while Mackenzie Warner scored two runs in the game.

Munn pitched for Athens, striking out one.

Canton 10, Williamson 7

Canton scored 10 runs in the third inning to get the win on Friday.

Kayla Ward scored a run for Canton and Lacey Castle had a hit and scored two runs in the win.

Maggy Machmer had an RBI and scored two runs and Caitlin McFall had a hit and an RBI.

Lauryn Watkins had a hit, a run scored and two RBI and Joslyn Spencer scored a run.

Kelsey Griffin had two hits, two RBI and a run scored and Sidney Wheeler and Abby Herman scored runs for Canton.

Griffin struck out one in five innings and Ward struck out one in two innings.

Sara Bates had two hits, with a double and two RBI for Williamson and Kendra Colegrove had three hits, with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Emma Durst scored a run and Emily Hackett had a double and a run scored.

Andrea Regalbuto, Hannah Fitzmartin and Meghan Wyble all had hits and runs scored. Wyble had two RBI and Fitzmartin's hit was a double.

Bates struck out one in 2 1/3 innings and Durst struck out five and allowed two hits in 3 2/3 innings on the mound.

Notre Dame 4, Edison 1

For the second time this year the Crusaders picked up a win over Edison, helping them extend their division lead.

Alivia Clark threw a one-hitter for Notre Dame, striking out nine and walking two.

At the plate Clark had three hits, with a double, and two RBI.

Mackenzie Mahajan had a hit and scored two runs for Notre Dame and Mackenzie Maloney had a hit and an RBI.

Morgan Cox had two hits and scored a run and Ally Witchtowski had a hit and an RBI.

Maura Glovins had a hit and scored a run for the Crusaders.

Wellsboro 7, Wyalusing 0

Alyssa Yungwirth threw a two-hit shutout for the Green Hornets, and she also led Wellsboro with three hits at the plate.

On the mound Yungwirth struck out four and walked two for the Green Hornets. At the plate she also had an RBI.

Paige Carr had a hit and two RBI for Wellsboro and Peyton Wilson and Jordan Butters and Sarah Ingerick had hits. Baylea Lehman had a hit and an RBI.

Kate Epler and Erin Canfield had hits for the Rams.

Kyleigh Ward struck out two and walked none for Wyalusing.

Wellsboro is at Towanda on Monday.

CV 9, Sayre 1

The Indians got four hits, with a home run, three RBI and a run scored from Jessi Prutsman in the win on Friday.

Maddy Hatch had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Kayla Schauer had a hit for CV and Madison Lee scored a run.

Taylor Hager had two hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Whitney Earl had a hit and scored two runs.

Amaya Walker and Jenna Romaneo each scored runs for CV.

Kassie Winters had three hits for Sayre and Kate Cron had a triple and scored a run, while Hannah Hitchcock had a hit.

Hatch struck out 11 and allowed just five hits in the game. Winters struck out six for Sayre.

Waverly 8, Newark Valley 2

The Wolverines got three hits, with a home run, a triple and two RBI, with two runs scored, from Kiana Manuel in the win.

Kalie Herriman had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored and Shailei Kraft had two hits, with a double, two RBI and a run scored.

Sam Mennig had a hit and Kendra Ellers had a double and scored a run.

Karleigh VanNess had a hit and scored a run and Anna Smith had a double, a run scored and two RBI.

Mennig struck out seven, walked none and allowed four hits and two unearned runs in the game.

NEB 8, Susquehanna 2

The Panthers scored two runs in each of the first three innings on their way to the win on Friday.

Maddy Johnson had three hits, with two RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored and Gabby Slater scored a run.

Annie Williams had an RBI and scored a run and McKenna Wheaton had two hits and two RBI.

Dana Koontz scored a run for the Panthers and Julia Williams had two hits, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored.

Danielle Moore had an RBI and Katie Boardman had a hit, a run scored and an RBI. Hannah Dum had two hits and scored a run.

Annie Williams struck out eight on the mound for NEB.

The Panthers are at Sayre on Monday.
