Canfield comes through again for Wyalusing; NEB's Souto throws no-hitter in win.

2013 Wyalusing vs. Cowanesque Valley SoftballWYALUSING - Wyalusing's Erin Canfield is quickly making a name for herself.

The freshman once again came up big for the Rams as it was her 2-out bases loaded single in the bottom of the seventh that brought in the winning run for Wyalusing.

"She's a clutch hitter," Wyalusing coach Jack Loomis said after his team's 8-7 victory over Cowanesque Valley in NTL cross-over softball action Tuesday.

"She's come through twice for us," he added. "She seems to live for the big moment. I can't ask for much more than that, the kid is just excited to play."

It was the Indians that got off to a fast start, taking a 4-1 lead after the first inning. They made it 5-1 after the top half of the third but a 4-run bottom half by the Rams, keyed by Emily Faulkner's 2-run single, knotted the game up at 5-all.

Wyalusing took a 6-5 lead in the fifth, then made it 7-5 in the sixth. CV fought back, tying it up with two runs in the top half of the seventh before Canfield's heroics.

Canfield went 3-for-4 with a run scored and 2-RBI to lead Wyalusing while Faulkner was 2-for-4 with 2-RBI.

Ally DeVoir, Kasey DeVoir, Paighton Martin and Mackenzie Martin also had hits with MacKenzie's a triple.

Ally DeVoir and MacKenzie Martin scored twice while Kasey DeVoir, Arielle Kneller and Martin also scored.

Faulkner earns the win, striking out 11 while allowing seven hits and three walks.

Julie Brubaker went 3-for-3 with 2-RBI and three runs to lead CV while Whitney Earle went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Shanelle Ianson had a 3-run home run for the Indians, Kayla Schauer added a hit while Courtney Schauer scored a run.

Ianson scores the loss, striking out four while allowing six walks and nine hits.

Wyalusing will host Wellsboro today.

Northeast Bradford 4, Canton 0

Chelsie Souto threw a no-hitter as the Panthers picked up an NTL cross-over softball win Tuesday.

Souto had seven strikeouts and allowed just one walk.

"She's been pitching very well all year," Northeast coach Gary Hennip said. "She pitched another really good game tonight."

MaKaylah Holbert, Bridget Haverly and Julie Williams had the three Panther hits. Maddy Johnson, Holbert, Shelby Park and Mackenzie Moore scored the Northeast runs while Holbert and Calla Johnson knocked in one run each.

Kellsy Ross scores the loss, striking out five while allowing no walks and three hits.

Northeast will host Liberty today.

Towanda 8, Liberty 1

The Black Knights pounded out 11 hits to pick up an NTL cross-over softball win Tuesday.

Mackenzie Roof (2-for-2), Alaina Wickwire (2-for-2), Emily Gorman (2-for-2) and Sam Schoonover (2-for-4) had multiple hit games. Alaina Wickwire had a home run, two runs scored and an RBI while Roof, Gorman and Schoonover also scored runs. Gorman knocked in 3-RBI while Schoonover had two.

Laci Manning, Koryn Wickwire and Alysha Grimes also had hits. Koryn Wickwire scored a run and an RBI while Manning and Grimes also crossed home.

Grimes started and got the win. She went five innings to strikeout two while allowing six hits and one earned run. Alaina Wickwire pitched the last two.

Mariah Berguson was 3-for-3 with a double and run scored to lead Liberty. Madi Wise, Brittany Bickart and Calyne Pino also had hits.

Madison York scored the loss in the circle, striking out three while allowing five walks, 11 hits and seven earned runs.

Waverly beat Odessa-Montour

The Wolverines picked up an IAC softball win Tuesday.

Waverly posted 20 hits in the game being led by Shailei Kraft's 4-for-7 day with two doubles, six runs and 2-RBI. Stephanie Bellis (2-for-4), Kiana Manuel (2-for-5), McKenna Mattison (2-for-3) and Reylyn Schwartzhoff (2-for-3) also had multiple hits in the game.

Bellis added 3-RBI and six runs scored, Manuel had a double, 5-RBI and five runs scored, Mattison had 2-RBI and three runs scored while Schwartzhoff had a double, 5-RBI and three runs scored.

Sam Mennig had a grand slam and added 5-RBI and four runs while Megan Wilbur, Rebecca Morgan, Morgan Salsman, Jennifer Gay, Sabrina Bowman, Elizabeth Morgan and Carmella Ruth also had hits.

Rebecca Morgan scored five times, Wilbur and Salsman four times, Bowman three times and Gay, Elizabeth Morgan and Ruth twice.

Wilbur, Rebecca Morgan, Bowman and Ruth had 3-RBI each, Salsman and Elizabeth Morgan drove in two runs each while Gay knocked in a run as well.

Bellis went the distance for the win, striking out four while allowing eight hits, no walks and two earned runs.
