Towanda tops Canton; NEB, Liberty pick up victories.

TOWANDA - Emily Gorman powered the Knights to a 7-1 win over Canton in NTL East softball action Monday.

"Our Towanda girls played a solid ball game tonight," Towanda coach Bryon Fuller said.

Gorman had two hits, including a home run, in the game while knocking in 4-RBI. Koryn Wickwire also had two hits, including a double, along with 2-RBI. Laci Manning, Tori Welliver, Michelle Aronson and Kylie Cazassa also had hits for the Knights.

Welliver added an RBI while Aronson crossed home twice.

Alaina Wickwire scored the win, striking out 14 while allowing two walks, four hits and no earned runs.

Morgan Palmer led Canton with two hits, Kellsy Ross had a double while Cassandra McFall had a hit.

Chelsea Heatley took the loss, striking out six while allowing two walks, seven hits and seven earned runs.

The Knights are at Athens Wednesday.

Liberty 3, Wellsboro 1

WELLSBORO - Liberty got an inside-the park home from Maddie York, who scored two runs, and Nicole McCaslin went the distance on the mound as they got the win.

York had two hits, with a double and a home runs, scoring twice and Kasey Evans scored a run in the game for Liberty.

Kourtney Powlison drove in a run for Liberty in the victory.

McCaslin allowed three walks and five hit in the game for Liberty, striking out five.

Maggie Smith struck out eight for Wellsboro, allowing three runs on three walks and seven hits.

Madi Wise had a hit for Liberty and York had the two hits, while Courtney Carrigan and Cassie Frederick had a hit. Powlison had two hits in the game.

Wellsboro got hits from Brooke Kohler and Jordan Butters, while Peyton Wilson had a double. Paige Carr had a hit for Wellsboro and Hannah Zuchowski had a hit and an RBI, with Wilson scoring a run in the game.

Rachael Strange cleared the fence with what appeared to be a go-ahead home run for Liberty with the game tied at one in the fifth, but it was called back and she was ruled out for not touching first base.

NEB 19, Sayre 0, 3 innings

The Panthers' Chelsie Souto was perfect on the day, striking out all nine batters she faced in the win.

Souto also was 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored and a double.

Calla Martin had three runs scored, an RBI and stole three bases, while Monica Brown had a hit, a run scored and two RBI.

MaKaylah Holbert had a hit, an RBI and a run scored and Haylie Phillips had two hits, a double, a run scored and two RBI, while Bridget Haverly had a hit and two RBI.

Kelsey Carlsen had a hit, a run scored and two RBI, Nicki Emick had a run scored and Courtney Coleman had a hit and three runs scored.

Kelsey Goodwin had two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored and Mackenzie Moore had a run scored and an RBI. Maddy Johnson had a hit, a run scored and an RBI and Aubri Mosier scored a run.

Kirstyn Tappan struck out one and walked three on the mound for Sayre. NEB will hosts Sayre today.

Troy 18, Galeton 0, 4 innings

Kara Schucker threw a perfect game and struck out three for the Trojans on Tuesday.

At the plate Katie Jackson had two hits and scored two runs and Kayla Stephani scored a run. Tiffany Jerzak had a hit, a run scored and an RBI and Cecilia Morse had a run scored.

Taylor Murray had a hit and scored two runs, Tiffani Mattocks had two hits, scored two runs and had an RBI and Marissa Jarell had a hit, a run scored and an RBI.

Kelly Bridgham had two hits, three runs scored and two RBI and Hannah Jackson had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Faith Ceely had three hits and two RBI and Bethany Manley had a hit, a run scored and two RBI, while Schucker had a hit, a run scored and two RBI.

Kaitlyn Joerger had a hit and scored a run and Brooke Mattocks had a hit and an RBI.

Mataya McPherson pitched for Galeton, striking out three and walking four.

Athens 6, Wyalusing 3

The Wildcats got three runs in the fifth inning to pull away for the victory on Tuesday.

Jensen Dunkling had a home run, among her two hits, scoring a run and driving in four and Abbie Beck had two hits, with an RBI and a run scored.

Christin Dunkling, Alexa Daddona, Jenn Wells and Searah Kennedy all had hits, with Daddona scoring two runs and Dunkling and Wells each scoring runs.

Beck's hits were both doubles and Christin Dunkling's hit was also a double and she stole a base in the game.

Wyalusing got two hits each from Catheryn Pugh and Kasey DeVoir and Ciera Holland, Arielle Kneller and Laci Holdren also had hits.

Holdren had an RBI and scored a run and Kneller scored two runs.

Daddona went all seven innings on the mound, striking out five, walking one and allowing seven hits and three runs, all earned.

Emily Faulkner pitched for Wyalusing, striking out five, allowing eight hits and six runs, four earned, with two walks.
