Sayre baseball tops Elk Lake, Troy, Sayre softball fall.

2012 Troy vs. Danville BaseballNate Williams went 5-for-5 as the Redskins pruned out a 17-7 win in six innings over Elk Lake in baseball action Saturday.

Elk Lake led 5-4 after three innings when in the top of the fourth Sayre put six runs on the scoreboard, followed by five more two innings later to seal the win.

Williams also had four runs scored and two stolen bases while Brad Felt went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Cody Ketter was 3-for5 with three runs while Alex Lyons, Jared Donovan and Joe Kozemko all went 2-for-5. Lyons' included a triple. Nick Skerpon went 1-for-3 with the one hit a home run while Tyler Williams had a hit.

Lyons got the win, going four innings to strike out three while allowing six hits, one walk and five runs, two of which were earned. Tyler Williams went the final two, striking out three while allowing two hits, one walk and two runs, neither of which were earned.

Danville 14, Troy 4

EAST TROY - The defending District IV, Class AA champions Danville pouned out a win over the Trojans in baseball action Saturday.

The Ironmen had 10 hits total as a team, led by Mason Fasnaught and Zach Kozick's two hits. Kozick also had two RBI.

Fausnaught took the win, going five innings to allow one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out 11.

Lucas Havens was 2-for-3 with a 3-run home run and two runs scored to lead the Trojans. Brandon Mattocks and Jarod Mattocks recorded their first varsity hits on the day while both also scored. Landis Zimmeran and Delbert Lewis both singled as well.

Cody Wolfe took the loss, starting and going one plus innings. He struck out one while allowing three walks and five runs, three of which were earned. Lewis came on in relief to go five innings. He allowed four walks, five hits and four earned runs while striking out one. Havens finished out the final inning, allowing one hit and one earned run.

The Trojans begin NTL play by traveling to Galeton Monday.

Softball

Elk Lake 15, Sayre 3

Sayre led 2-1 after two innings but Elk Lake broke the game open late to pick up the win Saturday.

Kristyn Tappan was 2-for-2 with a run scored to lead the Redskins while Kelly Villanti, Des Waltman and Kelsey Young also had hits. Villanti crossed home as well.

Kristyn Tappan took the loss, striking out three while allowing seven walks.

Sarah Kwiatkowski was 3-for-3 with a double and triple to lead Sayre. Debbie Harvey earned the win.

The Redskins host Northeast Bradford Monday.
