Daddona hits Wildcats into semis.

2012 Athens vs. Selinsgrove SoftballTied 1-1 with two outs, Alexa Daddona hit a double that drove in Abbie Beck to push Athens to a 2-1 win over Selinsgrove in District IV, Class AAA softball action Thursday.

Selinsgrove struck first in the game with a run in the top of the fourth.

Athens came back in the fifth as a Mackenzie Hafer infield single brought in Jen Wells to knot things up.

In the seventh, Selinsgrove had a runner on third with one out as a sharp ground ball was hit to Jensen Dunkling. She fielded and threw the Selinsgrove runner out at the plate to preserve the win.

Kiersten Horton went 2-for-3 to lead Athens while Daddona, Hafer, Jensen Dunkling and Christin Dunkling also had hits.

Christin Dunkling scored the win from the circle striking out four.

Athens will now face top seed Jersey Shore at 5:30 p.m. at Elm Park Tuesday.
