Hornet softball shuts out Towanda, 8-0.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team recorded their third straight shut out as they defeated Towanda 8-0 on Wednesday, April 15.

The Lady Hornets scored two runs in the first inning, three in the second, one in the third, and two in the sixth to secure the victory. All the Lady Hornets' hit were singles on the night. Junior Alexa Singer, Freshmen Sydney Tremper, Alyssa Yungwirth, Junior Sarah Ingerick, and Senior Paige Carr all had hits on the night.

Junior Jenny Young scored three runs and Senior Baylea Lehman, Senior Lauren Bleggi, Tremper, Yungwirth, and Ingerick all scored runs.

Singer started on the mound and pitched a complete game for her third win of the year. Singer allowed only one hit and also struck out two in 63 pitches.

In the JV game, the Hornets won 9-5 to improve to 3-1.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 4-1 (1-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 18 as they host Athens.
