Hornet softball shuts out Coudersport.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team shut out Coudersport 10-0 in six innings on Monday, April 13.

The Lady Hornets scored once in the first inning, three times in the third, once in the fourth, twice in the fifth, and three times in the sixth to claim the non-league victory.

Junior Alexa Singer led the Hornets at the plate going 2-for-2 with two doubles and three RBI's. Senior Baylea Lehman was 1-for-2 with an RBI, Senior Peyton Wilson was 2-for-3 with a double, Freshman Alyssa Yungwirth was 1-for-4, Senior Jordan Butters was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Senior Paige Carr was 1-for-4 with three RBI's.

Yungwirth scored three runs on the day, Singer scored two, and Junior Jenny Young, Lehman, Junior Sarah Ingerick, Wilson, and Butters all scored one run each.

Singer and Yungwirth each pitched on the afternoon and held Coudersport hitless. Singer started and went four innings, striking out five batters on 47 pitches. Yungwirth came in and pitched the final two innings, striking out one.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 2-1 (0-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action today as they host Sayre.
