Lady Hornet softball wins NEB Tournament.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity softball team took home first place in the Northeast Bradford Tournament on Saturday, April 5.

The team started the day out with a 7-0 victory over Mountain View. Sophomore Alexa Singer pitched four perfect innings to start the game, striking out two, and Senior Brooke Kohler worked the final three innings, striking out six and allowing four hits.

Senior Maggie Smith had a home run, Sophomore Sarah Ingerick had three hits, with two doubles and three RBI, Kohler had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored, Sophomore Jenny Young scored a run, Sophomore Baylea Lehman had a hit and scored a run, and Junior Peyton Wilson had a pair of hits and scored two runs.

The Lady Hornets took on Tunkhannock, who defeated host Northeast Bradford to start the day, in the championship game and won 5-1. Singer earned tournament MVP honors as she pitched a four-hitter in the final and went 3-4 with two doubles and an RBI at the plate.

Junior Paige Carr had two hits, Ingerick had a double, a run scored and an RBI, Kohler had an RBI and scored two runs, Smith, Lehman, and Wilson all had hits in the game, with Smith driving in a run and Lehman and Junior Jordan Butters scoring runs.

In addition to Alexa's MVP Ingerick, Kohler, and Smith were named to the All-Tournament team.

With the two wins, the Lady Hornets improve to 3-0 on the year. The team will be back in action on Monday, April 7 as they host Northeast Bradford.
