Hornet softball tops Athens for second time, 8-3.
 

Sophomore Alexa Singer had a pair of home runs, driving in three runs and scoring three on her own to help the Wellsboro Varsity softball team beat Athens 8-3 on Monday, May 5.

The Lady Hornets opened the game with scoring four runs in the first inning. Athens battled back to within one run to trail 4-3 in the bottom of the inning and then failed to score the rest of the game. Wellsboro added one in the fifth inning and then three more in the seventh to capture the win.

Senior Brooke Kohler had a hit and scored two runs and Senior Maggie Smith scored a run. Junior Peyton Wilson had an RBI and a run scored, Junior Jordan Butters had a double and an RBI, and Junior Paige Carr had an RBI. Junior Baylea Lehman had a triple and Sophomore Darci Warriner scored a run.

Kohler struck out eight and allowed five hits and three runs, none earned, walking one to collect the win.

The Lady Hornets improve to 11-3 (4-3 NTL Division 1) on the year. The team will be back in action tonight as they host Troy.
